A new major order has been placed with Karl Miller GmbH (KML) from Lahr: The southern Bavarian cab specialist is set to manufacture five operator’s cabs for container cranes for Eurogate, Europe’s leading terminal and logistics group, for the newly constructed container terminal in Tanger Med, Morocco.  KML, an international technological leader in the field of specialist cab construction, is profiting from the boom in the logistics industry.

Lahr-Hamburg-Shanghai-Morocco: The route for the five new Miller cabs could hardly be anymore exotic.  The cab specialists from Lahr will require around six weeks to develop, produce and delivery the cab systems, and with their modern electrical and control components, air-conditioning systems and ergonomically-designed control console, the cabs will provide multi-functional work stations.  “The crane driver’s operating station comprises of just a few square meters of space, meaning that the optimal design and ergonomic equipment of a cab forms the nuts and bolts for stress-free and fatigue-free work”  explains KLM manager director Manfred Keller. In past years, Miller has fulfilled orders from Eurogate for the new container terminals in Hamburg and southern Italy.  “The new order for the terminal in Morocco is essentially classic project work”, in the words of Keller.  However, this will be different in that the cabs will be checked over in Hamburg by the Lloyd’s Register EMEA prior to shipping. The company, which has an international presence, will check the cabs for completeness and workmanship.  Once in Shanghai, the Miller cabs will be mounted to pre-assembled cranes and shipped to Tanger.
